Windows 7 or 8

Hello to all. I've built a new PC and I haven't chosen a OS yet. I've only used XP and no experience with a smart phone. . Should I go with Win 7 or 8? I don't have a touch screen. Running a FX4100. Thanks for any suggestions. Moeman57

They are both good, Win 8 is pretty fast and stable with best of both worlds!

There are significant front end differences that have been the source of alot of debate recently. You'd need to check out some of this to make your own mind up. As moricon said, under the hood you are still getting a good OS.

Get 8. If you won't like the Metro UI there's always an option of getting Classic Shell to restore the Start Menu.
Let's not forget it's only $40 until end of January. You'll need to install Consumer/Release Preview beforehand since it's an upgrade though (there are workarounds if you take your time to google).

Both are butt-ugly Windows OS's. But I've opted for 8 (with Classic Shell) after using 7 since its release: 8>9>10... it's present and the future. Devs will put more effort into 8+ drivers as 7 recedes into the mists.
