Once it boots into the desktop have a carefull look at all your running programs - particularly those in the background (e.g. check out the taskbar).
You might then want to disable some from autostarting.

get either Norton utilities or tune - up utilities 2013 and disable start up programs this will make it quicker on start-up. or treat yourself and buy a solid state drive (SSD) and have windows on it and watch it boot up in 8 secs! good luck

While I'd agree with the ssd the 8 seconds is a stretch. It highly depends on the motherboards bios and how long the Windows install has been installed. 15 is more like the lowest most will see.

Here is the answer to slow startup for Windows 7. My startup was taking +- 3 minutes. Now it is 1 minute! The solution is here: http://kingsoft-pc-doctor.en.softonic.com/

The program is 100% FREE! More importantly is that it works like a charm and is super user friendly. :-) No scams here to get personal information sold to spammers.
Try it you will be very pleased.

Alternatively, you can go to Start > Run > msconfig
Then go to Startup and uncheck unnecessary programs that boot with Windows.
