Hello. I have just installed a new playfield on my EM Bally Mata Hari
pinball machine. Everything works except for one thing. I have the
game set up for games and not free ball for special and high scores.
When you knock down the targets, you get 50k and the "Special" light
comes on. However, when you knock the targets down again, you get 50k
but no free game. When you reach the high score levels, you get a free
game and all other types of specials work. Does anyone know what's
causing this problem? Thanks, Monte.

On the solid state version, there are switches to turn on and off
telling the program what to award for 'special' - did you check the
settings on your machine for this too?

He said the other specials are awarding games. Maybe check the relay
that pulls in to light that 'special' in question, check/clean the
switches. Any motor switches that pulse once when the drops fall and
reset. Then again... did the special work with the OLD playfield? If
so maybe reinspect all wiring/switches on the drop target mech.

Thanks Frenchy. I'm not sure if the feature worked before I swapped
the playfield. It appears the relays are working properly. But I will
clean the contacts. I was thinking about switching from free games to
same player shoot again and see if that lights up when the targets go
down twice. what do you think? Monte

Thanks Steve. There are no dip switchs to turn on or off the feature.
I can only change it from free games to same player shoot again or
simply unplug it. Monte

Yup that might be an additional clue, try switching it.

sorry, my EM ignorance likes to rear it's ugly head now and then.
Are there not little jumper thingies to make adjustments, like I see on
the two older EMs that I own?
