AMD cooler?

Ok. Here is my dilemma. I am thinking of upgrading my 2nd computer so I can play some newer games on there on my LAN. The board currently only supports a Athlon 1.3 Ghz 200 FSB. It currently has a Duron 900. I want to upgrade it to the 1.3 Ghz. I have a question about a cooler for it. I have a XP 2400+ that came with the stock AMD cooler. I ditched that and am using a Thermaltake Silent Boost. Would the stock XP 2400+ cooler be sufficient to cool the 1.3 Ghz T-Bird? I know the T-Birds run hot, but according to thermal watts it uses less. My 2400+ uses around 65 W, where the T-Bird uses around 55 W.

I am almost sure it will fit. The cooler only has 1 clip on each side, not 3 like my Silent Boost. Its only a 60mm fan, so it should fit. I am just worried if it will cool the T-Bird. My instincts tell me it should, but I just want to make sure.

Sounds like you have 10 watts of head room. If you can find a fine wetstone, use a circular motion on the base of the hs, for about 20 minutes. The Amd hs is not very flat, so that helps a lot.

Ok. I found an updated chart of thermal output of the processors. It lists all of the AMD chips. According to the chart, my 2400+ and 1.3 Ghz T-Bird both use 68 watts. So, theoretically, it cooled my 2400+, it should cool the T-Bird.

It will work fine. It's basically what's cooling my 1.3T-Bird.
