  1. you dont clean anything, you replace the waste ink pads and get an epson service agent to reset the waste ink counter. Cleaning/replacing the waste pads will not fix a "waste ink full" type error. It normally needs to be reset with service software, which is not made available to the general public. Just buy a new printer, it will be cheaper. This is not something you should attempt yourself.
  2. You can reset the waste ink counter overflow yourself - no need to go to epson serviceman. Use this small utility to reset the waste ink pad counters - http://EpsonReset.com
    After hours of trying to reset my Epson DX8400 I found Waste Ink Counter reset utility - I set my counter back to Zero - The printer is now working again.

    if you reset the counter and dont replace the waste ink pads they will eventually overflow and you will have ink everywhere. i just read that website link, it looks dodgy as and they charge you for a reset key anyway.
