Help with computer resolution!

I just built my first new gaming PC, I have everything but the graphics card, (Maybe that has something to do with it?) and everything is working properly, BUT... I am using a Emerson 32" 720p LCD TV for my monitor, and so my resolution should be 1280x720 right? Wrong, that resolution is too large for some reason, and so I messed with resolutions for a minute, and I am using 1360x768. Everything looks good and appears to be right on that resolution, but if my native resolution is 1280x720 then why is it higher? Just wondering. Thanks.

Many 720p TVs actually have a native vertical resolution of 768.
