Ive had the pleasure of knowing Dann dating back to 1999. We live in
the same general area and share the same interests, pinball and
arcades.

Dann and I have done business with one another as buyer and seller each
way. Every transaction has been smooth as silk. Today was no different.
He sold me a game I had been looking for for awhile.

Dann has some seriously rare treasured pins and parts. Protos are
everywhere. If you need something small, large, common or rare, he's
probably got it. Im probably letting the cat out of the bag for some of
you who didnt know what he has. But hey, I cant buy it all!

Sorry folks, I have to differ here. I'd rather gargle a hive of angry
bees than do business with Dann again.

Its nothing against you, but Dann goes back much further than most
people in here. A little research and it would be shown what he has
contributed over the years to the pinball world. He just doesnt buy and
sell like you or me. He does much more than that. And his charity work
using pinball is second to none in the area.

You have given me your side of your bad transaction with Dann and he
gave me his side. Im not getting in the middle of it because I think
youre both good people. I would venture to say that Dann has over a 99%
satisfaction rate. The number of rare, prototype, restored pins he has
sold has got to rank up there with the tops in this hobby. His parts
supply is unbelievable. I know several ops (big and small) that call
Dann for that hard to find piece that no one else seemingly has. Kind
of like Al Gross was for arcades.

Everyone I have personally referred to Dann has come away quite happy.
Thats why when you were looking for someone I sent you to him.

Have a good weekend.

Al Gross! Now there's a blast from the past. I bought a few pins from
him when I first came to Phoenix 15 years ago. BTW, as goes Dann, my
comment wasn't aimed at you--just thought the lurking public should
know there are 2 opinions here. I'm in agreement about his charity
work and the outright supremacy of his collection. It's just his track
record with newbies and his arrogance which trouble me. Oh--and are
there any big ops left besides Troy Vending? Used to get pins there
too, until Duke sold out and retired in Alaska, of all places. Troy
(Duke's son for whom the company was named) got me a SWEET Cirqus I
wish I still had.

al gross shouldnt be a blast from the past. he was operating his
business as usual in the same spot until he suffered a stroke about 11
months ago.

depends on what you and i define as big ops. but yes there are still
several big ops here. no reason to argue that though. any op. here that
needs a hard to find part seems to call dann.

dann may be arrogant (i know i am), but i never heard of him taking
advantage of anyone. i had a friend who recently went through a divorce
and sold his pins to dann. he didnt get top dollar, but he got what he
wanted from dann after not having much luck on the newsgroups and ebay.

if you know of people that dann has screwed, please ask them to email
me. i refuse to refer people to anyone who has poor business practices.

Agreed... Dann is one of the good guys. Has always been hospitable
when I've show up at his museum, I could spend hours in that place
just looking at all the treasures! We've done a couple deals before
too, always fair and no BS.

I hate to be a "me too" but, well, me too. Dann never came off arrogant
in his communications with me but then I wasn't a newbie when we first
got in touch. The guy rides a Harley so he can't be all bad :)

I first met Dann in 1994 when I was a pin "newbie" and he's always been
great to me. I haven't talked to him for a few years now. You're right,
Dann's been in the pinball community for quite some time as an
operator/collector. If you look at Russ Jensen's writeup for the 1987
Pinball Expo '87 you'll see a "young man named Dann Frank" won a poster of
Queen of Hearts.

Here's my side of a bad transaction with Dann - I gave Dann $1800 as a down payment on "Funhouse" and Dann kept the money and the machine and won't return my calls or e-mails. As nfar as I'm concerned, Dann is a thief.
