I've had some problems lately that have caused me to repair my XP installation using the CD. After choosing "R" and having it automatically repair my installaion, I can no longer use my broadband connection or install another. Just as a note, when it repairs the installation it seems to uninstall SP1. The shortcut is still there, but the broadband conection is no longer in "my connections." When I use the make a new connection wizard it only gives me the option of an "always on" connection and the others are greyed out. So, somehow, XP either thinks that I already have a connection installed, or it thinks that I have a static connection. I've tried uninstalling my network device and rebooting, but after XP detects and installs it again I still have the same problem. I've searched the registry for the ap ID (inside the "{}'s" ), but to no avail. I've also deleted registry entries having to do with my old connection, but still no good. Is there a way to get around this or possibly manually create a connection without using the wizard? Thanks.

I'd actually considered that, but didn't find out how to uninstall the protocol. Is it similar to uninstalling it in NT? I'll give it a look. Thanks.

Go into your Network control panel and click on the Local Area Connection icon... then to your left, click on "Change settings of this network connection".... then just uninstall and re-install it.
