Less than $500 usually means IGP graphics, so medium settings might not be possible on most games. Intel's i series and AMD's 4250 are both decent IGP. Nvidia's reputation has taken a beating lately due to overheating and early death of many of it's chips, and laptops are cramped and can overheat easily. I personally wouldn't get Nvidia laptop graphics, although they do have many fans. My 2 Cents.

Bestbuy, Office Depot, Microcenter tend to have the best prices currently.
