Upgrading from 32 bit to 64 bit does it not need any new hardware?

reading trough these posting do i understand that you dont need to upgrade hardware to switch from 32 bit to 64 bit

As far as I know you dont have too

it assumes that your cpu is 64 bit ready,. which all modernized cpus should be 64 bit ready.
