Ok I have an AMD 64 3200+ and i was wondering what is the safe operation temp for that chip. When I boot up and go into bios it is running at 75 degrees Celsius. Is that a safe temp? I have a Thermaltake Venus 12 CPU fan and heat sink the fan speed is running at about 5000rpm in bios.

Is there a program as well that can monitor fan speed and temp of CPU my OS is win2k pro.

Thanks

You have a problem. My s754 3200 is running at 2.45. It's at 52c max. If yours is the s939 variety, they run cooler. Check to make sue the hsf is installed properly, and make sure your v-core is 1.5v for s754, less for s939.

You can try monitoring temperatures and RPM with MBM5 or the mainboard software (probably on the driver CD), SiSoft Sandra allows one moment only peeks.

not sure i bought a coolermaster heatsink and it came with grease but it did not fit my socket it said amd 64 on the box but wouldn’t fit. so i installed the Venus 12.

i found a thermal chart and it said with load 49 so im way up there i would like to know the die limits though.

no i didnt need to, considering the one didnt fit. i ran out bought the venus 12 and applied the grease that came with that.

i have a question though if i try a diff heatsink i should remove the greaee correct with what, there isnt something that takes it off is there?

ok well i have been hunting around the net for temps and etc. i found alot of people are having the same problem i am. i didnt mention this before but should have, my mobo is a gigabyte k8ns pro, everyone is saying that gigabytes bios sux and that they never give correct readings.

the one post i found was a kid that was worried about his temp becuase it said 29 in bios after playing UT2004 for 2 hours.

so it looks like the sesors etc. are bad on my mobo.

can someone confirm this find that has a k8ns pro?

it seems the f4 bios flash is the best. how would i flash my bios? i would like to try that one. im running f1

Great, then take the case probe and put it on the bridge chip heatsink or the CPU heatsink if it reaches. Much better indicator that case temp.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

89F is equal to about 32C. If you have 32C then your temps are not high. Here is a link to a handy conversion tool:

Are there multiple temp readings in the BIOS. Just confirmed from AMD tech support that the BIOS should display the on-die sensors temp.

I have a 939 pin 3000+ @ 2.45 GHz...highest temp I've seen is 51 C. I think you have a problem.
