Yes its fine to use personal preference would be to use pure isopropyl alcohol since the cost is something like 1/16th more per liter.

I use acetone, which is more commonly known as nail polish remover - works like a charm... that is if a charm actually worked.

Is it alright to use 91% isopropyl alcohol, it's all I can find at my local drug store.

Geeze! The best that I could find the last time that I looked was 70%! I want your drug store.

That aside, as far as I know the only real difference between the the different percents is the evaporation time as the remaining percent is just water. Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong on that?

Well, isopropyl alcohol has other problems. Frequent exposure (inhalation) might result in cancer of the paranasal sinuses.
One time only exposure results in cardiovascular depression and it will be metabolized to aceton which also isn't very healthy. If this happens to you you'd better take 50 grams of activated charcoal.
Please tell me there's an alternative.. Or should everyone just buy activated charcoal?

Isopropyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol. Nothing else.
