Laptop LCD?

Hey guys, Im a Computer tech, and im seeking some wisdom.

I have a Toshiba satellite, the LCD is showing a picture. External monitor shows up just fine. so i figured it was the LCD. ordered new LCD. same problem. The backlight lights up just fine. when powered on, but no picture. so i figured it was lcd cable. New cable comes in. no change. both new and old LCD's exhibit the same response. I doubt its the inverter since even if the inverter was bad I should be able to see at least a little bit of display on the screen. But absolutely nothing.

Bios is set to simultaneous display both LCD and external monitor. When pressing the 'close lid' button the lcd backlight turns off. so that seems to work fine.

Im out of ideas. Motherboard? I would guess not, since it powers the external just fine.

Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated!

Have you tried to old holding a flashlight up to the screen to ensure that it is the inverter? I've seen laptops with bad inverters where nothing shows, but upon holding a flashlight up to the LCD, you can see everything just fine.

Tried turning off surrounding lights and using a flashlight. Nothing. The lcd is on, its receiving power, the back light is on, but there is no display.
