Just wanted to get the advice of some people in regards to a trade that
I am looking at.
I have a Xenon that I would say is a 8 on a scale of 10 that Works just
fine. I have a person that wants to trade me a Williams Road Kings
which is about a 9 out of 10 but has a problem blowing fuses when the
right flipper is flipped (happens not all the time)

Would I be better off keeping the Xenon?

Your help is Appreciated.

That's a toss up....

If your Xenon has an exceptional pf, you
may want to hang on to it.

RK is not well loved, but not absolutely terrible, either.

If you do make the trade, LMK. I've got a RK down
here that's been doing that since it was new.

Maybe you can find the problem.....!

Keep you Xenon. Road kings bored me to the point that
I took it to auction and didnt care what it brought. The sounds and
speech really gets old fast(2 games).

That would be a bad trade. You can sell Xenon and buy a Road Kings and
have about $400-$500 left over.

Yes, RK is awful, keep the Xenon and enjoy it or find a better trade.

Thanks for the input so far. If I do get the RK..Fred...I'll let you
know if I get the problem figured out with the resetting.

Thx

BTW, on the right flipper EOS switch, there is
another switch stacked on top. This goes to
the switch matrix for lane change. If the 50vdc
directly below it contacts it, it can cause resets
or severe damage to the CPU board.

A poor design error that was corrected on later
WMS games, and something to look out for on
RK. Suggest removing both wires from the
switch, and test again for the reset.

(That is of course if you trade for it.) ;)

I don't have my Xenon anymore and thought it was a rather shallow but
BEAUTIFUL game, but I'd say it ranks way ahead of RK, keep the Xenon.
Didn't like RK obstructing the pf too much with those ramps...Frenchy

I have both games in my collection. In my opinion, you would be getting
the better of the two pins. I love RK. It's one of my favorites. I like
my Xenon too, but my PF is down to bare wood above the flippers. An
overlay would make it perfect. Still, RK is more fun for me as a
player. I love the sounds, so it just goes to show you that opinions
vary. I suggest you find a RK you can play and decide for yourself.

I put a Xenon together with an EBD and traded them for a Shadow.

You can do better than Road Kings on this trade.

I guess if the RK was fully working with no problems..I guess I'd
probably do the trade.

Thanks again for all of your suggestions so far

Bad sleeve on the Fipper Solenoid adds friction and will make it draw
extra current and blow fuses as it heats up and swells... Fuse problem
may go away with fresh sleeves... It will eventually seeze up and
destroy the solenoid... Check heat on Solenoid during game play...

not likely

keep the Xenon, sell it, or find something else to trade for.

you will do better in any of the above.

but if you like being raped go for it.

I like Road Kings personally. Xenon bores me. RK when 100% working
can be a fast agressive game. Atleast mine is. As for the flipper
issue almost sound like a bad EOS. I rebuilt all my flippers with new
coils, paddles, and flipper hardware. But thats my option on RK vs.
Xenon.

hey i just wondering if anybody knows what the color of wires your

There should be around 5vdc at this set of contacts.

All others will be around 50vdc. Easiest way to check
if you don't have a manual handy. Locate, turn the game
off, then remove and tape. the two wires. If you no longer
have lane change during a game, you have the correct
wires.

If the flipper doesn't work at all, you don't..... ;)
