Wireless MS application file??

I installed the wireless MS USB 2.0 adapter to connect to
my MN-710 router and loaded up the B/B Networking S/W
provided. All goes well for a few minutes then computer
slows down and the internet pages nearly stop. I found
application "IPhIpsvr" running uncontrollable in the
background and listed 15-20 times (sometimes more). This
file (.exe) I later found in the B/B Networking file that
I had earlier loaded. I supsect this application is
slowing my computer down. Does anyone know what this file
is or why it is reproducing itself as a listed running
application?
Appreciate any help.

That's really a hard one. You probably tried to delete it
unsuccessfully right? Try rebooting your router & modem
or forget the wizard altogether. I had a similar problem
and switched from MS to Linskeys and moving now.

Thanks but nothing you suggested works and I am not ready
to buy from a different vendor. Sometimes there are no
answers -- oh well. I'll run my ethernet upstairs and
forget wireless.

Are you 100% sure it is "IPhIpsvr", because there is a virus that will
create a process with a very similar name?

One other question is what OS is the computer running?

The "I" could be a small "L" but other than that it is
what I have below. I am running 98. What is the virus
name? Norton anti-virus found nothing. I am just about
to delete the entire MS broadband s/w and see if I stll
get the web or load it manually.

I don't trust your installed anti-virus software because it is the first
thing most viruses attack. I'd suggest doing a free online virus scan
over at http://housecall.antivirus.com/ just to be sure it isn't a virus.

Also I'm still wondering, what OS is the computer running?

Hello Joker, thanks for the site. It came up with 0
infected files as I had hoped. (Norton did earlier too).
As I had thought it was the MS broadband network file
after all. Once I deleted this S/W I am up and running
fast. Damn set-up s/w is worthless to have on your
machine after you get connected. Thanks again for the
website -- it may come in useful int he future.

The software is only needed to configure wireless connection on Windows
98, windows 2000, & Windows ME computers. Otherwise it is a waste of
hard drive space.

I agree. I can do without the icon on the tool bar and I
won't miss the signal strength bar graph. Now if I can
just keep the kids off.
