Hello,

I fear I've messed up trying to install a new drop target switch
(Switch 77) on my T2 and could use some help.

I was getting a Switch 77 error message when powering up. I searched
Google groups and saw many posts mentioning that the actuator arm on
this switch is prone to failure/fall off over time. Sure enough, the
arm was missing from my switch. I bought a new switch and diode today
and installed it. I *think* I've wired it back together the way it
was, but I'm getting some strange behavior now.

I no longer get the switch 77 error message but, when I start a game,
random solenoids pop for a few seconds, and switch 74 (target #4) now
seems to trigger the "Tilt" warning message (?).

Could these new problems be caused by messing up the wiring on my
switch 77? I've connected the banded end of the diode to the common
terminal, and the other end of the diode to the normally closed
terminal of the switch. From the cabinet, I've connected the white
wires with purple stripes to the common terminal of the switch; and the
green wires (purple stripes) to the normally open (middle) terminal of
the switch.

Is anyone able to confirm if my wiring is correct; or can suggest other
things I could try? Many thanks in advance!

Hi Lloyd,

Thanks for the quick reply - much appreciated. I've corrected the
wiring now (moved the white wires to the black end of the diode,
instead of the banded end, as I originally had). Now I'm getting a gun
cannot find home error. I've gone into the test menu and run the
calibrate gun program, but the cannon just continues to turn and
doesn't find home.

I've never had any problems with the gun before my botched switch
wiring this morning. Is it possible/likely that I damaged something
with my initial wiring attempt at switch 77?

Thanks again.

You screwed up the wiring. Look at your other switches in the game. White
wires go to the black end of the diode.

In order the switch should be --

Two switch lugs close together - first gets black end of diode and white
wire(s) next lug closest ( middle ) gets green wire(s) the far lug gets the
banded end of diode. LTG :)
