I've got a bunch of spare CPUs & MBs...I need to see which work & which don't. When I take the old CPU out, and try to use it somewhere else, do I need to clean the old thermal stuff off? How best to clean it off...and should I reapply it when I connect it again? Please advise...thanks!!!

(any form of alcohol will do)
I don't know ... beer has a pretty low alcohol content. You'd probably just get the processor sticky, and then it'd smell funny after it goes stale. Vanilla schnaps would at least smell better. But if you're going to use drinking alcohol then you'll probably want at least vodka level, if not stronger. ;)

LOL...Stale beer does not smell funny - it's like preserved nectar of the gods... Everyone has at least one good memory that involves the smell of stale beer.

I wouldn't say everyone. I'm sure that I'm not the only person on this planet that has no good memories involving the smell of stale beer. I have plenty of bad to indifferent memories involving it, but none good.

Come on - if you can laugh at the situation or at least reminisce, then it's a good memory.

Admittedly, some of mine aren't so savory or include a wolf-like instinct to bite off an arm, but that's a different story....

1) I had to find out the hard way that I'm allergic to beer/malt drinks. (So now I mostly drink wine or vodka.)

2) I used to live in US Air Force dorms where a few times a year they'd pull you from your normal 'job' and make you clean the dorms for a week. So the number of times that I've had to clean up other people's stale beer left after parties (and god only knows what else) in the rec rooms has for me turned the smell of stale beer into the same type of mental stigma as trigger foods for bulimics.

So, as I said, no good memories.

Well, being an exception certainly is nothing new for me. **ROFL** However I doubt that in the billions of people in the world I'm the only one. ;)

Be proud to be the exception! You're in an elite class driven by bad memories of stale beer!
