Cleaning a CPU

I have received a new athlon CPU from a friend of mine. The only problem is that there is an excessive amount of artic silver thermal paste on the chip itself. Some of it has even gotten on the pins. How would you recommend that I clean the CPU without dammaging it or bending the pins? Thanks.

Isopropyl alcohol works best as does nail polish remover. The purer the better. 100% Alcohol leaves no residue or traces. I use injection swabs, premoistened.

Like Da Worfster said, high grade rubbing alcohol. To do the pins, a squirt gun, or mist sprayer should do the job. If you a very carefull, you can use a fine painters brush as well.
