Lost receiver for wireless mouse

Hi all.

I have lost the little transmitter box (connected to two USB ports) that receives radio signals for my wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard.

I contacted the shop and they told me, that every single transmitter uses a unique frequency and there is no other solution than to buy a new keyboard+mouse.

Is this true? Should I forget it, threw out the old mouse+keyboard and buy a new set?

Obviously, that statement was patently false. You can see that the different receivers operate at varying channel frequencies, but there is not a different one for each individual receiver sold per unit.

This is why there can sometimes be problems when the mice and keyboards are too close together, such as when moving the cursor with a mouse on a different display.

However, whether you can purchase the receiver separately from the mouse and keyboard is another story. I would suggest that you contact Logitech and ask for a replacement. Or perhaps you can locate someone who has a receiver they would be willing to sell to you.

Correct, they use different channels. However, the newer stuff still has a security code. The different channels are to keep away from interference, but with the newer stuff, you still cannot use a different mouse/receiver.

Interesting ... thanks for the update. I wasn't aware that a security code had been implemented.

Do you know of any way to defeat the code?

In that case, my advice was wrong, and I eat my words. But you learn something everyday, or the time is wasted.

I know that the wireless MouseMan optical is like that (the one you and I have). But I don't know much about the code, I would think it's set when it's made and unchangeable.

we get a lot of people in our store asking the same thing, usually just after a cordless mouse and keyboard has dissapeared from the display isles. i'm not suggesting anything here, just curious how you could manage to have lost it. broken it yes, but lost?

Although it has a lot of good ideas, beer doesn't know anything about computers!!!
