Phenom 9950 Cracks The 4GHz Barrier On LN2

Not quite 4 Ghz..still impressive. It seems there is a dual standard for cpu clocks. An Intel e8600 cracks 6ghz and not much noise. AMD "almost" reaches 4ghz and its kind of a big deal. Even tho it was dual core, Intel Quads in the recent oc-ing competition reached around 5.6ghz.

E8600 is $275 and QX9770 $1460. 9950BE was $205 yesterday at Newegg. Of course E8600 and QX9770 are much faster but you got to give AMD something.

lol if you don't mind, follow the link at the beginning of the article, you'll see that they managed 4050
and there has been plenty of reports of core2 OCs in the news recently...

Mate, when Phenom breaks 3.5GHz it's a big deal :lol: And they did break 4GHz, it just didn't validate correctly. I wonder if they'll try again.

Well, Phenom's have a been getting bad rep for being terrible @ OCing. So breaking the 4Ghz barrier is a big deal in showing that Phenom OCing issues are a thing of the past, now if that is true i can't say.

Also, just to not its not a dual core its a quad core. look at the test again and you will notice that.

What the hell? The aritcle is titled "Phenom 9950 Cracks The 4GHz Barrier On LN2". So why is fully two thirds of the article is blabbing about the upcoming (in about a year mind you) Intel Core i7?

Likely due to the fact that Intel is adopting the I/O that has been used by AMD for some time now; so it's relevent in it's own way.

Intel is gonna restrict overclocking,AMD is bad at overclocking regularly anyways.Look like overclockers are screwed.

haha it took LN2 to get 4GHz out of the phenom.... air and water can easily get that out of an intel and with LN2 on an intel.... 5.6! so what's the big deal.
