I am interested in building a dual xeon system. I am replacing a P4 3.06 single processor machine. (Current machine has 2 Gig Ram and runs on a Gigabyte 8INXP. (Most stable MB I've ever had)
Could you guys recommend which processors would give me the biggest bang for the buck? I'd also appreciate a MB recommendation to support the dual xeons.
Thanks!

What will use it for ? For desktop apps, there is no point in getting a dually, the price isn't worth it, and for many apps it may well be slower than a top of the line single cpu system.

Yes. Good point. A close friend of mine said the same thing. I use the system 90% for gaming and 10% Photoshop. My friend said that dual xeons is way overkill. He says that a single AMD is the best bang for the buck for my needs.

Guess my original post was hasty.....
