WinXP SP2 adds a new firewall that could block entry to the Zone. Known
issues with XP SP2 and various products out there.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842242

It may help to use the "Enabling programs" section of the above article
to allow Zone.exe, Zproxy.exe and any other Zone program that
communicates with the Zone.

There's a section here on disabling the XP firewall:
http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/MultiPlayer.html#fwall

Make sure you're allowing cookies, not blocking Zone ports or programs
with a firewall, and not using a popup stopper.

Beside that (btw.: who said he's using XP SP2 ?) the server where you have
to sign in with passport is down from time to time and you can't log in.
Just try it later again.

It's the great MS passport concept. After the last zone changes the thing
is running worst as it did before. If you are playing for years, you should
know that it was always like that: Things that are running fine never work
properly after the MS guys have touched it. Something things never change.
