Speakers

Hello, I purchased a laptop the day after Christmas (HP G61-511WP). Right out of the box the Altec Lansing speakers were so low I could hardly hear them. They work fine with earplugs or a HDMI cable hooked to my TV. Is there anyway to remedy this problem? The sound is turned all the way up.

You would think that was an obvious thing to do, but in the last few days I have seen several problems on the forums relating to new systems, one that didn't work at all out of the box.
Sometimes you want to bang your head against the wall.

Thanks dude. My little girl mind thinks that since the sound works in every way except the start up sounds (which work fine with the headphones) I really don't think I wanna go through the return process for a $700 computer. I sincerely thank you for your advise though.
