Hello, I purchased a laptop the day after Christmas (HP G61-511WP). Right out of the box the Altec Lansing speakers were so low I could hardly hear them. They work fine with earplugs or a HDMI cable hooked to my TV. Is there anyway to remedy this problem? The sound is turned all the way up.

The best fix for any new computer with a problem is to return it to the vendor.
New computers are supposed to work.

You would think that was an obvious thing to do, but in the last few days I have seen several problems on the forums relating to new systems, one that didn't work at all out of the box.
Sometimes you want to bang your head against the wall.

:bounce:  Thanks dude. My little girl mind thinks that since the sound works in every way except the start up sounds (which work fine with the headphones) I really don't think I wanna go through the return process for a $700 computer. I sincerely thank you for your advise though.
