Hey folks...

I've recently picked up a dead Kizz.....
the diodes on the power supply board in the bottome left corner
seem to get very hot and crack/desolder...
I disconnected everything except the cabinet switch and she still wants to
smoke.

I googled for a minute but was wondering if anyone has made a replacement ?

Tom Callahan used to make these www.repairconnection.com not sure if
he's still making this or not.

Yes, he still makes the "Dual Plug PCB" replacement Bally power supply
board. I highly recommend it. It's worth every penny.

I though tom's was a replacement for the -18, not the -49 - although
they may be compatible as the only difference is the dual diodes they
used in place of the whimpy BR1. Don't know if the connections to the
transformer are compatible however. Better look into that before
ordering one.

I repaired a -49 once by replacing the now hard-to-find dial diodes w/
a normal bridge. here's how I did that (I went ahead and replaced all
the bridges while I was at it):

Tom does make a -49 replacement. I was in the process of installing
one in a Space Invaders when my soldering station blew up - see my rant
about RS. VERY nice piece of work, very well designed and documented.
It will be functional shortly after my new TENMA soldering station
arrives.

Cheers!!

Nah, you don't need the dual plug set - not worth the extra $40.
All three header connectors are pinned the same between the -18 and -49
boards. But, the -49 has an extra pin on the end of J1 making it a 9 pin
header. If used in place of the -18, the last pin is unused (at least,
that's the case for the rectifier board that I designed).
