Hey all,

Well I posted a couple weeks ago and I had MS Word using 50% system idle, and that was causing my CPU temps to spike into the high 50's (normally I idle @ 39-40 celsius). this morning I woke up to find my temp at 56.

I didn't really do anything the last couple days that could have subjected me to a virus... at least I don't think so. I have Norton Antivirus fully updated and running in autoprotect and it hasn't given any alerts.

ANy ideas whats could have caused my CPU temp to be so high after idling all night? After a restart, no problem, and everything is idling fine now.

What do you computer do when it does nothing? It's IDLING...

It's 100% normal to have idle time near 100% when you are doing nothind on your PC. What's it's not normal is to have idle near 0% while doing nothing with your PC!

lol, sorry, I tried to come back to edit this post before someone saw it, but you got me. dangit.

Well yes I realize now that's ok, thanks for putting it so lightly :) Just never noticed it before so I wasn't sure what caused my CPU temp to go so high.

My temp is idling at normal again now, however, any ideas why the temp was so high before restarting the system, after being idle all night? I've never had that before.

Okay, so what you need to do is download and install the Folding At Home console version and set it up to run as a service. This will fix all of your problems.

Yes i'd agree will silver, what you need to do:

Head out to <A HREF="http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html" target="_new">folding@home</A>, download their latest console client for xp, you'll need to put in 40051 for the group and apesoccer for the user. That way you can properly justify your temp:idle ratio. If you have any further questions on this subject please let silver or I know. We'd be more then happy to give full conditional support regarding furthering the proactive preemptive counterconditioning efforts...<slips in to the other again; gdi>.

I doubt it. Your system wasn't idling. Do you run adaware regularly?
