I'm on road alot,Do I need to connect cable to laptop, to get T.V. if I if a tuner card

Yes, if you get say, a USB based tuner card, all you would need to do would be to connect the hotel's cable cord to the tuner card. Either that or you could get an antenna to attach to it, which could pick up local stations.
