Have a couple of different laptops that someone gave me and they won't power on. What could the problem be? I was told it could be the motherboard, they don't even act like they are even powering on. I have a new ac adapter for each of them. Thanks in advance for your help. Mel
If it's the motherboard and they are old laptops, it's not worth buying a new motherboard. Best bet is to find a very similar model with something obvious broken -- like the screen, keyboard, hard drive, CD Rom.
That's now I built my first laptop. Combined three broken Dells bought for much less than the required parts would have cost on e-bay etc.
