Problem uninstalling Windows Update

So, these windows updates that installed itself are causing major compatibility problems for me with some games and such. The ones that are causing these problems are called "Important or Critical Updates." These updates can not be removed supposedly... Any way around this? I tried system restore and that did not work. Is the only way to get rid of them reformatting? Or, is there any way to solve compatibility problems on this application without deleting the updates?

Not knowing what the application is we can only suggest you look on the application authors home page for a solution.
