Hello there! My old laptop is slowly perishing and I think its time to buy a new one, but since the notebook market is so huge, I was hoping to get some advice/ideas here.

1_What is your budget?

Up to 1400€.

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

12''-14''. 13'' would be optimal.

3_What screen resolution do you want?

Not important.

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

Portable.

5_How much battery life do you need?

At least 3,5hrs. The more the better.

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

I would be mostly interested in emulated games (PSX, PS2, XBOX, etc). Also Resident Evil 4, Left for Dead, Sims 3, that kind of stuff. I don't have to play anything super new, since I have a PS3 which can do that.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.)

Photoshop, some CAD and watching movies.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?

200GB is more than enough. The more the better.

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

Nopes.

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?

2-3yrs.

11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

DVD Writer would be nice. I can also live with an external drive.

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I looked at the Alienware Mx11 which is nice in every way, but with 11" a little too small for my liking. The only thing I don't want is a Mac.

13_What country do you live in?

Austria.

14_Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I write a lot, so I need a sturdy keyboard.
