UDN7180A failure - how to diagnose which chip?

HI ALL:

My Firepower was recently hit with a surge (I assume) during a rolling
blackout here in Los Angeles. Apparently it took out one of the
UDN7180A's because now the upper-right most bit in all the digits on
Player 1, 2 and credit/ball display are out.

Does anyone know which chip needs replacing?

What is the process in determining the chip that is responsible...

I may have access to a limited number of these chips to replace with
but I need to figure out which one is faulty. Is there a diagnostic
procedure to test 'em?

Thanks in advance for any advice ...

Regards,

Steve

I'm pretty sure Clay's site has a procedure for testing UDN7180's with
either a DMM or a logic probe.
That blackout got your displays, huh? Did you have the game on when it
hit? Fortunately I'm far enough out in the boonies where I didn't get
hit by it, but I have a supplier in Van Nuys who was able to use it as
an excuse why he couldn't ship me my stuff that day. (the lazy sod)

No, the game was turned off but it was plugged in. I have to assume
that the blackout caused it since it started this right afterwards. I
hadn't checked Clays doc yet but I do have the entire system 7 doc
printed. I'll browse through it tonight...

Thanks!

Hi,

If you do need one, you can find it at www.arcadechips.com
