Asus a4k BIOS does not start

Hello
My ASUS A4K BIOS doesn't start anymore. The only thing running is the vent. I looked at the motherboard and detected an activated red LED beside the BIOS battery. What does it mean? Could this be a hint why the BIOS does not start anymore? The battery seems to be OK (3.03V). I disconnected the battery to force a BIOS reset but this doesn't help.

So it will not get past the post screen when you start it up or it will not even post at all? Have you recently attempted to update the BIOS?

Yeah, it will not even start the post routine. No BIOS update attempted. Power source from trafo, LiIon accumulator removed. The fault suddenly manifested from one day to another. . .
