Yes xp configuration is enough for win7 and 8.not enough for vista.

I would recommend downloading and running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor before upgrading to Windows 7 or 8 to ensure that your computer will handle it.

hedwar2011 gives great advice to check the Windows 7 upgrade advisor. A quick look at HP's website did not show any Windows 7 drivers for the HP dv1000.
