Ok, I had to reinstall winxp a few days ago cause it messed up and wouldn't load. I updated it and all, but now every time windows starts up, it detects a new HP DJ5550 printer, though it's already installed. this slows down boot time, and also seems overall to decrease system performance...what the issue here?

What I've done is allow it to install the printer AGAIN and then simply remove it once it's finished booting. So far it's worked for me.

issue is that it takes my system 5 mins to load cause that's when it detects the printer, and this slows down performance overall also.

This is a printer problem. Go to HP's site and download the patch that fixes it.

Follow their instructions EXACTLY on how to do the patch or it can cause problems.
