smoke come from cpu???

ok jus got new amd 64 3200 and asus mobo. i put it all together booted up and smoke come from the cpu. why has this happened. Does this mean i cant use the cpu now and have to send it back. thanks

Are you sure it didn't come form the power source? They are more likely to smoke. If it was your CPU, you will have to RMA that and your motherboard and most likely your PSU. Sucks man. Sorry to hear that.

when i turned it on (with the speakers on) it goes system error check cpu so im guessin the smoke came from the cpu. Is there a reason for this happening do you know?

Sound like you got the new "Huron" CPU. Count the puffs of smoke. 1 puff = reseat memory, 2 puffs = Video card problem, 3 puffs = HELP!!!!!!!Your CPU is melting!

I think the guy needs some more constructive help rather than all these nonsense.

Thread poster, try this. Pour a pail of water over your CPU, then on your computer. make sure the power supply is plugged in.
