Hoping maybe some Gottlieb guy can help- I have A system 3 game that
had all the playfield smart switches cut out and Williams style
switches installed. I have new smart switches to put back on but here
is the problem-Each spot target terminal in the schematics are
identified as either 1 or 2-so each smart switch has A #1 terminal and
A #2 terminal-They show A schematic of A smart swith and identify the
strobe terminal as #1 and the return as # 2-Ok so far but here is my
problem -If you look at an actual smart switch,it does not indentify
which terminal is which-The switch has 2 solder pads-one pad is round
and one pad is square? So what I need to know is which pad is #1
(strobe) and which pad is #2 (return) so I can re- install the new
switches correctly-Any help would be appreciated!!
-Thanks!-John T.

Hi John,

I cannot look inside my Cactus Jack's now, but will later...

What game do you have? The switch matrix in the schematic book will tell
you the wire colors for each strobe and return wire, for each switch.
Hopefully there will be "stumps" of wires remaining from the individual who
cut the switches out in the first place, where you can identify the colors,
and hence determine strobe or return.

Man, I do NOT envy that task you have, but it WILL be worth it. Where did
you get the replacement smart switches?

Good luck,
Dan
