Will THG just do an apples to apples test of top machines?! Intel vs. AMD vs. Apple?!

And the Lord Spoke to the people and said "You may kiss my holy ass!" Amen

Hello Draiko, and welcome to THGC.
Tom's HARDWARE is a hardware site. Ie for people who have the skills required to at least make a decision as to the type of parts they want in thier system.
Apple is for those who dont. So is Dell, or Gateway. You wont see a Dell to Gateway comparison here, because that is not what the site is about.
For some people, and for some uses, Apple is great. So what? I haven't seen a review of a Laravey guitar here either.

No need to do that, the result will be obvious and has been evident all over the place for some time now.

Apple system is anything but the fruit. Price and performance, it lags either way.

Latest reviews of top-of-the-line dual-core offerings goes to AMD. But all this is time-relative. Who knows, tomorrow might show a different picture.

there is no apple vs pc crap. hardly any one cares anymore. all that is left is apple making up numbers saying they are a million times better than any pc under the sun and no one cares because any one that knows anything about computers knows its false. but you seem to care still, so what does that tell us about you?

Macs have no viruses, my windows dell with a 3.7GHz cpu has all this spyware and porn ads that popup every time I turn on my computer. ITS FUGGIN ANNOYING!!!

Not really; the latest numbers indicate 1 in 5 Macs are infected. Now that its reached the 10% market share threashold, Macs are increasingly being targeted, and their poor protections against viruses are starting to be exploited.

I don't even really mind the macs anymore. Yeah they are nothing more than shiny over glorified PC's with a retard proof OS and a price tag the size of texas. Oh well. I spent about a grand on my machine and a mac can kiss my crossfired ass.

Alot of Macs getting infected from trojans just recently. You gotta go on a quality porn site or you're going to get viruses.
99% of people that get infected happens because they do something stupid

Hi :)

You said....

"Will THG just do an apples to apples test of top machines"

Easy answer.....Apple dont have a TOP MACHINE...so would lose...

All the best Brett :)

You can't do an "apples to apples" (pun intended) test because Macs runs Mac OS where as PCs using AMD/Intel CPUs runs Windows. Also, AMD APUs/CPUs are not used in Macs.

Macs do not get as many virus as PC because the Mac OS represent a very small minority of the installed OS base of all computers. People who writes virus and trojans generally prefer to infect as many people as possible. Therefore, computers running Windows is the preferred choice.

You generally do not get porn popup add unless you visit porn sites. Some porn site are safe and some are not. You should probably avoid visiting porn sites. If you do like surfing porn sites, then at least protect yourself running virus scan and malware scans. If you are too lazy to do that then maybe you can find a condom for your computer.

If you really have a lot of gripes about Windows then just switch over to Mac OS. I'm sure a lot of people here will not care either way.

Lastly, was it really necessary to dig up a thread from 2005?

This ^ and Apple used to be right on the ball with sending out any patches to their OS are the primary reasons it was, in fact, much more reliable than Windows. Now, that was before and Win7 has largely closed the reliability gap, and we will see if Apple continues to slip up. The fact is, the so-called "1 out of 5" Mac virus exploited a weakness in Java, which still was Apple's responsibility to foresee; they were just a little less than on the ball this time.

"I [strike]am[/strike] was a Mac" (buh-dum ching)

Before I discovered the addictive joy of assembling one's own PC, I was a hard-core Mac fan, mostly because my wife was; when she met me, I knew very little about computers, I was nothing, a nobody :( .

To a newbie computer user like myself, Macs were so elegant, so poised in their confidence, so trouble-free, so shiny.

Fast-forward to a year ago and after replacing the video card in my work PC all by my lonesome, I suddenly got an itch to assemble my own box. Now I no longer have the "Mac Goggles" on, and can see their faults, which is not to say that they are garbage like some people insist upon - our iMac from late 2006 is still kicking good, and runs circles around another inherited work box, an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Windsor, about the same age.

I will say among other things that I like about Windows PC's is that I much prefer the Windows Explorer environment to the Mac interface, even though the latter is supposed to be "friendlier".
