Hi guys, my computer has recently started to act weird after a froze while watching a movie(Fight Club.avi) because I was jumping back and forth to look for the scene. Once I rebooted the computer after pressing the power button, the system automatically booted into Safe Mode. Then I clicked Start-Shutdown-MSDOS in Safe Mode by mistake. Now every time the computer boots up, it starts in WIndows 98 Startup Menu and then boots to MS-DOS based program and I recieved bunch of error messages direct to config.sys file.

The following missing or corrupted file: C:\CDROM\OAKCD.sys
There is an error in Config.sys file in line 15.

Here is what it is like in my config.sys file:

and autoexec.bat below:
http://www.geocities.com/tuan162000/Autoexe.jpg

Both of these files are longer and has more commands than it used to be when last time I check(very recently).Last time I checked it, they're both short, short enough that don't need a scroll bar. Now look at this.
I don't know much about these commands. I don't know what to delete.
I want to get rid of these unused commmand and the Windows Start up Menu when it boots.

Do I need to concern the errors in MS-DOS based program? How should I fix it? I can load to windows by typing "win" command.

Please help. Thank you so much.
Edited by TuanSupreme17 on 11/08/02 09:27 AM.

look in your windows director for a config.bak or config.sav or config.000 file rename the config.sys file to config.old and rename config.bak (etc. but just one of them) to config.sys then reboot... if that doesnt get it in dos ( not a dos window) type scanreg /restore and restore a reg file from before the problem began if one is still available

I'd remove both those lines, they sound decidedly dodgy!, as mentioed, restore an earlier version, tho actually they arnt needed anyway. can you post the full contents? from memory I seem to recall the line that reads C:\CDROM\OAKCD.sys
should read
C:\CDROM\OAKCDROM.sys

SOMETHINGS been changing your stuff around, I'd be a little concerned about this
