Will your computer turn on if the motherboard is bad

Hello,
I currently own a laptop and the screen is black, the sound button and the wireless button are both red. The computer is still running yet nothing is on the screen. I've tried to run utilities on it, but the computer won't stay up long enough for any utility to complete. What's going on?

Connect a monitor and see if you get signal there.

What utilities did you try to run? How did you run them if you can't see anything on the screen?

Maybe overheating? If it's an older laptop (>1year), it's likely that dust has accumulated near the cooler. You should have it cleaned.
