How do i change my hp model c310a printer to print only black ink?

Ive looked all over the settings, and I cannot find a way to set my hp photosmart premium c310a printer to print in just black ink. It wont let me print documents if my color cartridges run out. I just want to set it to black and white only, so I dont have to worry about this. Please help...

Go into preferences on the print menu.

There should be option where you can select black and white only or print in gray scale. Its really simple.
