What type of cable and connectors do I need to detach and
relocate the antenna on the mn-730? I don't get a signal
where the PC is located (inside a building with metal
siding), so I would like to mount an antenna on a nearby
window ledge to see if this fixes the problem.

Best thing is to get a wireless extender.. stand alone
units. DLink and others sell them.

It's a good idea, but I'm not looking to spend that much.

Microsoft doesn't sell anything like that for there hardware. The only
things I can suggest are RTM & google.
