Normal Temperature

Last response: in CPUs

Assuming normal ambient temps (about 25), the mobo temp should be in the mid 30's, and the CPU in the 40's under 100% load. The CPU can take up to about 60 without harm, so that would lead me to think ambient temp can go up to about 40, maybe 45 and you'll still be ok, assuming good airflow of course.

Don't know about the x850, I'm thinking it may be more sensitive to warmer temps (it runs hotter than the CPU afaik). Hopefully someone else knows.

Mike.

You're good for anything under 50 C at full load (for an extended period of time). If you're running hotter then that, then it might be time to consider getting a better cooling solution for your cpu.

edit: I couldn't say for ATI products as I don't have one. However my 6800 gt runs anywhere from 70-90C and is rated to 120C, which is crazy...but that's what the manual said. Also, the CPU is rated to 60C like the fellow above me said. On this board, it is very possible for the cpu to be cooler than the mobo temps. I have a asus a8n-sli as well, and i have it oc'd to 2.1 (from 1.8) and still at idle it is cooler then the mobo (typically @ idle around 35c and mobo 38c; @full load for an extended period of time cpu 43c mobo 41c; with a xp90 and 92mm hsf for cooling).
