More about home
  1. absolutely not, but I'd still recommend Pro for it's extra features.

  2. if plan on logging on to an nt domain go with pro. i have heard that home cannot log on to it.
  3. Unless you're into serious networking go with the Home edition. It's cheaper and has less "stuff" running in the background.

  4. I would choose Pro just for the remote login. There are other nice things, but the ability to login to my computer at home and stuff while I am here at work helps a lot when I need to E-mail myself a file or something.

As far as gaming, no real difference as a general rule.
  5. Remote login is awesome. Also, with HT processors available, only XP Pro can take advantage of it. I hope they mentioned that in Tom's article.

  6. Actually, that's wrong... From anandtech:

"Luckily Windows XP was designed with Hyper-Threading support in mind and thus even Home Edition will support a single CPU with HT enabled. Keep in mind that Windows XP Home does not support multiple physical processors, but if you enable HT on a Pentium 4 XP Home will recognize it as two CPUs"

  7. Ok. I guess I stand corrected. I've read a lot of articles that have said otherwise, but with the release I guess I stand corrected. That's good news.
