Mouse taking only certain brands of batteries?

Hello,
I have an Eclipse Mobile Mouse. When I first bought it, it took any AAA battery I gave it. Now, however, I find that it no longer takes most brands of AAA batteries, and those that it does take stop working for it after a week or so.

Can anyone tell me what's going on, and, more importantly, what I can do to fix this?

if the mouse has an off switch, use it when away.

cheap brands of batteries are sometimes crap. they may not last for as long but i've always had them work. perhaps you are giving it dead batteries (test them with a meter)

The batteries I used were brand new, and I usually do turn it off when I leave. I tried this even with brand name batteries, such as Duracell and Energizer, and the same thing happened.
