X's & O's cheap squeak sound problem

I have a Bally/Midway X's & O's. Suddenly the sound on it is very low. The
pot on the door takes the sound from nothing to something extremely low.

I messed around with this volume pot but it seems to have no effect on the
problem ( I did not replace it though). Connectors seem okay.... Any idea
and what might cause a low volume issue? Maybe a ground problem...?

replace the pot on the board.
