Has anyone had any luck trying to find a performance review for the X2? A good review that compare its gaming performance to other AMD's?

I realize that not everyone here believes that dual core is the way to go for gaming, and I am just looking into it as an option. Some others believe that dual core will be faster than single because the second core will adopt OS tasks. I just want to see how well the X2 performs vs. other AMD's using one gaming application. That's right!!! just one game running.

Its an overclocking test and they only compare it to a 4000+ but then you can pretty much translate it to the other single cores!

I like that second linky better. Its a good one, and gives a few different performance ratings based on different games, it gives some pretty good data.

Now lets hear what people have to say based on the price comparison. What do we think is the price/performance winner.

<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103544" target="_new">X2 4800+ = $1065.00</A>
<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103527" target="_new">FX-55 = $819.00</A>
<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103547" target="_new">X2 4200+ = $585.00</A>
<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103529" target="_new">A64 4000+ = $481.99</A>
<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103531" target="_new">A64 3800+ = $369.00</A>
<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103533" target="_new">A64 3500+ = $267.00</A>
<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535" target="_new">A64 3200+ = $190.00</A>

I realize that I could have included more, but these are the ones I chose. I might also create a thread just talking about this price/performance ratio, so that some others might catch a look at it (not everyone looks in old threads).

I also realize that not every chip on this list was reviewed in the review on anandtech above, but it gives you a good idea where all of them would sit.

If you start that thread it's gonna be really helpful, because a lot of people think that if it's much more expensive it should be much more powerful.

Yeah we have some people asking: I'm gonna build "gaming system" here are the parts *dramatization*
-Athlon FX55
-PC Chips motherboard
-Geforce 5200 video card
-DVD burner
-Generic RAM 2X1GB
Is this a great system or what!

Sure they're getting a great CPU but spending so much on it that they barely have enough money to build the system.

With the price performance chart they can spend less in the CPU while still getting good performance and using the saved money to build a strong foundation for the system with a better mobo, video card, ram etc.
