Hi guys!!!

I know that USB connectors only support up to 5v, but what I meant was (for obvious reasons, I can't type an essay in the thread name) is there a way to bypass that and make a homemade laptop-cooler that would deliver the 12v power needed for most fans??? If there's any modders out there please help me on this!!!

Thanks in advance!!! Alex CHeng

There are methods of converting lower voltage to higher voltages. The key point to note is that the total power output from a USB port is limited by the maximum current it can source.
A typical USB port can source max. of 500mA. At 5V that is 2.5Watts.
If you up-convert 5v to 12V the max current you could draw would be 208mA.
That's cause you cannot draw more than 2.5Watts of power from the usb port.

A typical 12V fan would require more than 2.5Watts of power to run.

Equations for reference
Power = Voltage x Current [Watts]

if you want to have your laptop in a desk or something, you could get two 12v fans and get and universal power source and plug it in... (i've done that).
