On the underside of the LT5 ramp is a ball gate style coil. I have 3
corvette's (machines not cars) and all 3 have this coil, wired up and not
doing anything.... The manual is worthless when it comes to the LT5 Ramp,
so can someone please tell me what this coil is supposed to do? I see the
spring, the spring hole, and I am guessing that the coil opens the ball gate
at the entrance of the ramp - BUT all 3 of mine have nothing on the ball
gate to hook it up to. SO - with that long winded explanation, can anyone
tell me what is supposed to be here? A picture perhaps?

Thanks a million Bernie KC-Pinball

If I recall this coil engages and traps (locks) the ball on the ramp,
then falling in to the saucer. You may have 1. plug not plugged in
2. wire off the coil this could either be the big wire or the winding
itself. Let me know, I have a vette in house.
Thank you

Mine has the flap where it goes into the LT-5 ramp, Then the motor
shakes & the ball gets stuck "Before" being able to drop out of the
ramp,, happens everytime =(

Pin-Del,

I thought about removing that flap myself, BUT I know its there for a
reason ???

OK,I just fired mine up & I see I have a wire gate & thats right where
the ball drop is,, Its the 2nd flap gate thats catching my ball,
Maybe thats why yours is missing, I could remove that Flap & then I
know mine wouldnt get stuck on it .

Are their 2 gates at the entry of the ramp? I have 1 gate on each of these
machines that is BEFORE the drop out for the lock hole. If you smack a shot
up the ramp, it bounces off of the exit gate and rolls into the lock.
(through the shaker).

I could see if there was a second gate just before the engine that would
trap any ball and divert it into the lock OR open up and send it through the
lt5, but it is just odd that 3 games all have the same gate missing.....

The one I have in the shop now never gets stuck, and other than delaying the
ball dropping into the lock seems to have no issues.

Of course I see the pic on IPDB that shows the second gate (after I post),
but I am wondering if it is really necessary? If the ball goes through the
engine, the rear gate blocks it and it bounces forward to the front
(stationary gate) and drops into the lock....

I'll fire up the other 2 and see what it does on those 2 - heck, maybe it's
not needed - I don;t know...

Looks like I'll have to make a few of these up for this game. I'm certain
that that part is NLA....

Anyone?

That's probably the reason, if the thing goofs up, then toss it! Love the
operator mentality - oh wait, I'm an operator....

I'm just going to make a few up for these games - since it is such a treat
to shop anyway. <sarcasm mode on BIG TIME > If I have it all apart, I may
as well try to do it right.
