Is the scoring relay (eg. the 'one point relay,' just under the 1's
reel) somewhat like a HOLD relay in that it *stays* energized until the
advancement of the reel causes a break in the series voltage line
feeding the same relay. [Like the pop-bumper's solenoid as well, in that
they stay ON (once energized by the skirt's spoon switch) untill the
'popper' goes all the way down -- thus avoiding partial pop-bumper
firings].

That *is* the way those odometer type scoring reels work. Right?

Yes you are correct. So if the 1 point relay energizes on a PF
ball impact and the 1 point relay stays energized, often it's
because the score reel has not advanced.
