Hi,

Using a Dell 2400, w/WIN XP, 512 Ram and 40G Hard Drive. I just
installed a 3.5 floppy drive. It does NOT show up in MY COMPUTER.
BUT, when set as first boot preference, it works fine!

I set the BIOS to include the Floppy Drive. And, it shows up in
Device Manager with no problems as Standard Floppy Controller and
Floppy Drive.

I give up! Need help, please.

Mike

Does anything else show up as your "A" drive?

Go into BIOS and default all settings (ALT+F), then clear the NVRAM
(caps/scroll/num lock enabled, then ALT+E). Press ESC and then enter to
'save changes and exit'.

See if that does the trick.

This sounds similar to a problem that some people used to have when
adding in an extra Hard-Drive - it would appear in the BIOS but not
within Windows!!

This is probably a long-shot, but I would suggest the following:-

Obtain a copy of "TweakXP". Run it & see if the "A" Drive has been
disabled, if it has, enable it!!

HTH

Regards,
John

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Thanks guys! I appreciate all your help and I've
written it down in my "Computer Diary" book in case I have similar
problems. But after a dozen or so restarts and bootups,, the Floppy
Drive came in by itself and is now in MY COMPUTER. Whatever happened?
Slow motion? Thanks again!!!
