Yields are propably extremely low, which explains 25% of the price too..

Ha Ha! Actually when I see someone on E-bay doing this I will send them a polite e-mail pointing out that their marketing tactics are somewhat misleading. Then when they e-mail me back (They always do) with a basic "Go Fock yourself" I then e-mail all the bidders and E-Bay. I hate scam artist. There are alot of good people that use E-bay to buy and sell products but its the few cons that screw it for everyone. Oh, and I should also mention the owners/managers of E-bay. They should be tarred and feathered for allowing some of these sleeze bags to continue to use E-bay. They are much more concerned about a few high volume cons than they are about the regular consumer like all of us.

Sorry about the RANT, couldnt help it

Well that is good stuff!

one point to add thought you sure its a scam (the link in this thread)
Because we,re not talking about an OCed complete system..just the cpu.
Would they have changed the multiplier, or increased the FSB directly in the chip, i dont get it?

The 4000 is sold only through the authorized European arm of "Michael's Computers". I just finished a build with the first one (got three at that price). This thing idles at 37C and will not heat up past 55C no matter what! Power usage says 107 watts. 88,000 ON AQUAMARK-3 with a lowly overclocked 6800GT! Unbelievable! Almost twice as fast as my Clawhammer on every app. Running HL2 on a 40" LCD and it's GODLIKE! Is this the "shitz"?

I always wanted to change the BSOD error message...

Just think:

Windows Is Fucked.
Don't Worry, this happens all the time.
If it's still fucked after a reboot,
then re-installing might work.

However, if you were working on something important just
Before this happened, then you're fucked.

ahahaahahaahahahah so intel did realize that marketing is for the weak minded only and more and more ppl are becoming computer literate!
July 29, 2005 4:16:13 PM

Forget BSOD and RSOD. I want a nice pretty pink one (PPSOD). And instead of those horrid beeping noises there should be MP3s. And burnt PSUs should smell like flowers.

I think that it was just way past time to give up a race that has been over. Mhz. As for marketing, with enthusiast your probably correct, however with the general public they probably still think that the CPU speed is the most important factor.

nah nokko think the ram is the most important!
IT HAS TO BE DDr2 and at the very least 2 gig if not 4-8!

Yeah, but he keeps babbling on about how he can overclock the Pentium... so he must believe it's all about clockspeed.

July 29, 2005 9:38:35 PM

Clock speed is way down my priority list when im preparing a system for a benchmark. Ive been helping some guys OC their rigs in the 4 - 4.2Ghz range. They are still all hung up on clock speed. I ran some benchmarks at 4.6Ghz and then some at 5.2Ghz, the one at 4.6Ghz were much higher scores than the ones at 5.2Ghz The difference is stability. I didnt have the cooling close enough to 0C and at 5Ghz you better be close or its just about impossible to run stable. I thought that showing them the difference in the scores would convince them. LOL, all it did was convince them that the benchmark programs were the problem and not the computer. SCREW IT! Im going to let them think whatever they want to from now on.

When I started out benchmarking, I was no different. I thought that the CPU was the cure-all. Now, I place more emphasis on the PSU than the CPU. All of these World Records are great and certainly are worth the effort, but at the end of the day the person that understands that the whole system (All parts/aspects) is more important than any one part (CPU or RAM) will be the last man standing.

>It now includes RSOD = Red screen of death for more serious
>errors than BSOD..

I thought that was for longhorn, no ?

Besides, what the hell are they thinking.. BSOD isnt all *that* bad perhaps ? How much worse can it get than locking up, killing every active process without the chance of saving or commiting any changes whatsoever and then just dumping the stack to the screen while waiting for a reboot.. (oh indeed, it can be set to reboot automatically, what a life safer !!).

One can only wonder what a RSOD of death implies.. "sorry, but we accidentally formatted the harddisk.. please insert the backup tapes so we can accidentally erase those too" ?
